Post Birth Weekly Update!

Because I'm hilarious and crack myself up, I thought it would be funny to do an 11 week post birth "update" like the weekly updates I did while pregnant. The hilarious part of it? Most of my answers have not changed much from the third trimester...Ohhh mommyhood :)

How Far Along: 11 weeks old (I'm going to have to alter this "update" next time so that it more closely reflects the baby. Instead of "how far along" it should probably say "how old is baby" or something like that.)

Maternity Clothes: Funny you should ask. The worst part of my day? Every morning when I get dressed for work and attempt to squeeze myself in to a combination of pre-pregnancy clothes, while trying not to look like I'm swimming --or still pregnant, in maternity clothes. Sucks to go from a size 6/8 to a size TOO-BIG-FOR-EVERYTHING-IN-MY-CLOSET. I really don't care about the number on the tag...it's just that I don't have anything "in between" that's not maternity. So either I wear stretchy belly panel pants that I have to keep hoisting up b/c they fall down every time I move, of I can wear pre-pregnancy pants that give me a muffin top and camel toe (this HORRIFIES my husband).

Sleep: Nick sleeps plenty. Granted it's not always when WE are sleeping. Most nights we make it from bedtime (which has turned into some time between 8:30pm - 9:30pm...for ALL of us), until somewhere between 2:30am - 3:30am, when Nick is hungry again. Then he'll go back down until around 6 or 7am. It's slow progress, but we're getting there. Nick has started doing this adorable face rubbing thing when he's tired...I can tell he so desperately wants to rub his eyes, but he just can't quite figure out how to get his little fists coordinated with his face properly. Soon enough, I'm sure.

Best Moment of the Week: It's always the smiles and laughter. He can literally turn my day from terrible to awesome with a flash of that full face, gummy, toothless grin. Such a flirt :)

Movement: His legs are CONSTANTLY moving these days. If he's not asleep, his legs are kicking like he's running on an invisible treadmill. We have no doubt in our minds that he will either take after his Tio Mateo (my brother) and become a stellar soccer player, or that he will end up being an awesome kicker for a pro football team. (See? Small goals for our little guy.) ;)

Food Cravings: WELL, funny you should ask. My favorite saying since Nick was born is that "all the babies do is eat, sleep, and poop...but mom's can't find the time to do any of those things". It's true. (More than once I've had to yell to Todd "ahhh! come get the baby! I have to go to the bathroom!") The first several weeks of Nick's life, I think I might have eaten dinner, and that's it. Possibly some breakfast or lunch while my mom was here...but mostly just dinners. And I was so busy crying all the time that I couldn't hardly stomach much of those dinners. Now my appetite is back, but the timing is still difficult. Plus Todd and I are both dieting to try and lose our baby weight. So lately my meals have consisted of coffee and honey nut cheerios with skim milk for breakfast, a cup of noodles or a homemade turkey sandwich on wheat bread for lunch, and salmon or other lean protein with veggies (all made by my chef hubby!) for dinner. I miss eating cocoa puffs at 10pm every night...although I was right, it DID ruin my waistline ;).

Stretch Marks: :( Tear. Someone please buy me celtrixa ASAP. My stomach looks like a road map. Not that I enjoyed myself in a bikini before, but all possibilities of ever wearing one again, even if I lose the massive amount of weight that I'm hoping to, are null & void.

Gender: We lucked out -- he did, in fact, have a penis! So all that blue baby boy stuff people bought us, and the blue nursery, really did apply! (Also this will be the last time I answer this question, because I'm pretty sure his gender will not change *hopefully!*).

What I Miss: Well...those things I missed in the third trimester (my waistline, sleeping through the night, not having heartburn, sushi, etc.) have only barely started to even out. Waistline is still not back...we aren't sleeping...but I don't have heartburn (hooray!) and I can eat delicious sushi again (though I only have about once or twice).

What I'm Looking Forward To: Every single day with Nick. He surprises us all the time now, and he is so much fun. I posted this on one of Todd's pictures on facebook the other day, but I'll say it again -- to quote Taylor Swift: Nick really is the best thing, that's ever been mine!

Weekly Wisdom: Bring tissues with you on your first day (and second, third, fourth, fifth...hell every single day) dropping your baby off at daycare. It actually does NOT get easier. ;)
