Happy 3 Months Baby Boy!

How Old is Nick: Nick turned 12 weeks old last Wednesday, April 30th...but going from the 2nd to the 2nd, he technically turned 3 months old at 11:29pm last night. Where did the last 3 months go?!

Clothes: Nick is officially wearing all 3 month clothing. All of his sweet little newborn outfits are far too small. He is wearing 0-3 month nightgowns, but his onesies range from 3 months, to 6-9 months. He seems long to me, but I think he's proportional. He's pushing in to the 3-6 month clothing, and it won't be long before he's outgrown all of the cute 3 month things in his closet. I'm having a hard time keeping up with all of his clothes -- I want him to wear everything before he outgrows it all. I have always had a serious shopping problem, only now instead of buying clothes for myself (since I'm a terrible in between size), I buy tons of clothes for Nick. Good thing, since he spits up so much, he has to be changed several times a day!

Sleep: He's becoming a champ at sleep! The past couple of nights he has had a little congestion, which I think is waking him up...but he'll wake up and fuss, I'll go in and find his pacifier, put it in his mouth, pat his belly, and he'll pass back out. Last night he slept from 9:30pm - 7:00am. He fussed at 1:30am and at 5:30am, but both times was able to go back to sleep once I replaced his pacifier.

Milestones: It seems like every day Nick does something new and adorable. He is loving bath time now...even if he's cranky because he's tired or hungry, as soon as we plop him in the tub, he starts kicking his legs and smiling and talking. He loves to have warm water poured over his body...but he HATES to have his butt washed. Last night I was (gently) scrubbing his behind and he started frowning. Todd said "I'd frown too, if someone was digging in my rear end like that!" He also hates getting out of the tub. As soon as he's up in the air, about to have the towel wrapped around him, he screams and cries like we just ruined his day. Poor guy :( the only way to console him is a bottle. Typically because we bathe him right before his last bottle of the night anyway.

Movement: He is doing really well with his head control. You can sit him up on your knee and he'll look around and hold his head up for quite a long time. He still bobs it a bit, but the motion looks more like he's bobbing his head to his favorite song. He still hates tummy time for the most part -- which of course being the neurotic person I am, freaks me out that he won't ever start crawling, since he's always on his back. And it worries me that he's going to have a flat head, too. But our daycare provider is giving him lots of tummy time, despite his protests, so I'm sure everything will be ok.

Food/Appetite: At daycare, Nick is eating about 8oz, 3 times a day. When we give him the last bottle of the day, I usually only make it 7oz. He'll suck the bottle dry, but doesn't fuss afterwards like he is still hungry, and he'll go straight down to bed without spitting up -- a HUGE advancement from just a few weeks ago when he would spit everything up the minute he was laid down in his crib. My dad keeps asking what is gonna happen when Nick wants to eat more than 8oz, since a bottle only goes up to 8oz. Naturally we could just make him another bottle, if he's still hungry -- but I'm sure in just a short month or so, we'll be incorporating rice cereal, and then moving on to baby food. Geez, where is the time going?? My baby is becoming a big boy! :(

Adventures: This past weekend we took Nick down to the Hampton/Newport News, VA area to see his Nanny Mo, his Uncle Matt (yes, he has two!), and his Aunt Lacey. Pop Pop was out of town (in Florida to see the Shuttle Endeavor launch!), so we didn't get to see him, but hopefully he comes to visit soon so he can see how big his favorite "damn cute kid!" is getting :). Nick had a great time at Nanny Mo's house...cooing and smiling and babbling. And he slept pretty well, too! His schedule was a bit off from his weekly routine, because of the car ride, but he did great and once again proved to be a great traveler. (His first trip was to Aunt Sara's wedding in Tennessee at the beginning of April!!)

Nick is still loving daycare, and I got to spend about 30-45 extra minutes at daycare with him yesterday afternoon. It was neat to see his daycare teacher interacting with the kids. She is really great with them -- loving and caring, but stern and fair. She sits them in time out if they hit another kid or do something bad or dangerous, but after they sit time out, they all want to give her hugs and kisses because they love her so much. I also love that she speaks to them in English, and says some Spanish words like "hola" and "hasta manana" so that they can learn another language. I'm completely confident in her taking care of my baby all day, 5 days a week. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't look forward to nights and weekends, when I get to be the one smothering my little guy with hugs and kisses :).

How is he 3 months old already??? You are so right about the clothes - it's a challenge to get them to wear things more than a couple times because they grow out of it so fast! I'm finding that I wait too long to move up in sizes and then I end up missing an outfit almost completely! I had the cutest outfit that was 3-6 months and I waited until she was 3 mos and it was already tight! Shopping for the little ones is the best...
I can't beleive he eats 8 oz bottles! Go Nick!! Sofia got up to 6 oz and then we started cereal and then food. Every once in a while, she'll down 8 oz of formula, but it's still more like 6. I started her on cereal at 4 months. I know very few babies (any?) that tolerate rice cereal - it makes them all constipated. We moved to oatmeal and then multi-grain cereal. Feeding time is so much fun - you'll love it.
Can't wait to see you Saturday!
