A grown-up bedroom!

Perhaps it's the fact that I have pre-pre-baby fever and have this weird instinct to nest, even though we are NOT pregnant...but over the past two months I have been dying to turn our bedroom from that of the likes of my college dorm room, into something that two mature adults can share as a sort of escape. An R.E.M. oasis, if you will.

Hence, I begged, pleaded, and kicked Todd in the shins until he gave me the green light to buy the necessary accessories to re-vamp our bedroom.

So, after several weeks of searching for the right curtains (yes, we have lived in our house for over a year, and just put up curtains), the perfect bed ensemble (yes, we have been using an old, stained, ugly white down comforter), and some pretty wall art (again...over a year, and there was nothing on our bedroom walls. Literally, nothing.), I have finally pulled together a bedroom that I am excited to sleep in at night, and look forward to making up the bed in the morning. (HELLO MOM, DID YOU READ THAT? The girl who could never make her bed, now actually ENJOYS getting up 4 minutes earlier to make it!)

So without further ado -- I bring you, our newly redecorated bedroom:

**but first, a disclaimer...I am still bringing bits and pieces of it together. We have since added a brown, beveled-edge, oval mirror over the dresser (which you can not see in these pics), and a new deep-gray blanket on the bed which ties in much better with the color scheme. Plus I'm trying to convince Todd to let me spend $150 on a headboard I found at Target. HONEY, I NEED THAT HEADBOARD!
Ok...on to the pictures:
Whinnie just before the big re-do...not too sure she can dig change

The curtains, finally hung up!

The bedding...which now has a matching grayish blanket, instead of the white. The silver lamps were already in the room and just happened to match perfectly! The silver Kate Spade frame to the left was a wedding gift and holds a picture of us on the happiest days of our lives! Ignore the diet dr. pepper can...they take over our house.

My tried and true mantra ;) This is one of those wall clings, that looks like a hand painted stencil. Several people have already asked "who painted that!" to which Todd always replies "my wife!" and then I let them be impressed for a few minutes before revealing that I infact, just stuck it (albeit difficultly) to the wall. I left enough space under the saying, for our future headboard...AHEM...honey?

The full (well, part of) shot of the room. To the left, directly across from the bed is the bathroom. To the right of the bathroom is the tall dresser, with the TV on top (yes, we're TV in the bedroom people). To the left of the bathroom is a lower dresser, with the new mirror I mentioned over top, and to the left of that is our walk in closet. Directly across from the windows is the door to the hallway, and of course, the loft...which will eventually have to be a post all it's own, if we ever do something nice with it, aside from store all of our junk.

And finally, just because it's adorable, a picture of Todd and Whinnie sleeping on one of our first nights in the re-done bedroom. Apparently she was afraid that with the old comforter, I might toss Todd out, too -- look how protective she is of him! Too sweet. :)
