Music...Sweet Music...They'll be Dancing Everywhere...

Last night Todd and I were supposed to meet with our DJ but he needed to reschedule, so we decided it would still be a wise investment of our time to start discussing songs for the wedding.

We spent about 2.5 hours shuffling through songs from the past 2 decades of music, laughing and singing along the whole time. I know that when I'm 80 years old, I'll look back on last night and remember it as one of my favorite moments that Todd and I have ever shared. After all, it's the little things that matter most, right?

I sat with the lap top on my lap, googling songs, reading lyrics to Todd, and playing him videos and clips off of YouTube. He sat in front of the stereo shuffling through his huge collection of CD's, playing me snip-its of songs and singing his favorite parts to me.

We decided the song we picked for our first dance was still our favorite and #1 choice. And as we sat there listening to it together, me watching Todd sing the words, I was able to picture our first dance, Todd softly singing the words in my ear as we share our first dance as husband and wife and I began to tear up. So we had to stop listening so that I could save that moment for when it really happens!

We listened to father-daughter songs (again, I cried)...and mother-son songs. We listened to ceremony songs and processional songs. We listened to conga-line songs and grand entrance songs. We picked a cake-cutting song, a garter removal song, a bouquet toss song, and a last dance song. At one point Todd said "do you think our wedding reception is going to seem too scripted?" and we both decided that we didn't care as long as it meant we would get to hear all of our favorite songs.

So now we're psyched to meet with our awesome DJ (Horizon Entertainment - check them out!) and get started with a program for both the ceremony and the reception.

It's all becoming so real! Picking out songs...wearing my veil for the first time at my hair trial...putting together all of the wedding favors. I can't believe that in 6 weeks we'll be saying our I Do's, and all of the hard work and planning will be put into action, and we'll be able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that nothing else matters but the fact that we will be starting our life together...as one couple. We will officially be "The Kalinosky's". And hopefully by then, my mom will be able to pronounce my new last name...and my dad will be able to spell it. :)
