Counting down
Not much time to blog...which is unfortunate because I want to post all the details about my bachelorette weekend (which was amazing by the way) -- and I will post about it soon -- but for now...just this:

Music...Sweet Music...They'll be Dancing Everywhere...
Last night Todd and I were supposed to meet with our DJ but he needed to reschedule, so we decided it would still be a wise investment of our time to start discussing songs for the wedding.
We spent about 2.5 hours shuffling through songs from the past 2 decades of music, laughing and singing along the whole time. I know that when I'm 80 years old, I'll look back on last night and remember it as one of my favorite moments that Todd and I have ever shared. After all, it's the little things that matter most, right?
I sat with the lap top on my lap, googling songs, reading lyrics to Todd, and playing him videos and clips off of YouTube. He sat in front of the stereo shuffling through his huge collection of CD's, playing me snip-its of songs and singing his favorite parts to me.
We decided the song we picked for our first dance was still our favorite and #1 choice. And as we sat there listening to it together, me watching Todd sing the words, I was able to picture our first dance, Todd softly singing the words in my ear as we share our first dance as husband and wife and I began to tear up. So we had to stop listening so that I could save that moment for when it really happens!
We listened to father-daughter songs (again, I cried)...and mother-son songs. We listened to ceremony songs and processional songs. We listened to conga-line songs and grand entrance songs. We picked a cake-cutting song, a garter removal song, a bouquet toss song, and a last dance song. At one point Todd said "do you think our wedding reception is going to seem too scripted?" and we both decided that we didn't care as long as it meant we would get to hear all of our favorite songs.
So now we're psyched to meet with our awesome DJ (Horizon Entertainment - check them out!) and get started with a program for both the ceremony and the reception.
It's all becoming so real! Picking out songs...wearing my veil for the first time at my hair trial...putting together all of the wedding favors. I can't believe that in 6 weeks we'll be saying our I Do's, and all of the hard work and planning will be put into action, and we'll be able to breathe a sigh of relief knowing that nothing else matters but the fact that we will be starting our life together...as one couple. We will officially be "The Kalinosky's". And hopefully by then, my mom will be able to pronounce my new last name...and my dad will be able to spell it. :)

It's time for girls to mix and mingle...
...it's my last few days of being single! That's what the adorable invitations read, accompanied by this picture of yours truly:

...to which, when I showed Todd, he scoffed "I don't like that picture of you. It's awkward." Perhaps he forgot I'm awkward in general...? Eh, he loves me either way. :)
SO...this weekend marks a momentous occassion in my life. Yes, I'm talking about my bachelorette party. Wait, considering the all-out plans my awesome 'maids have created for me, I think I need a more in-depth word for party. How about my bachelorette... bash? blowout? extravaganza? celebration? shindig? wing-ding? (no joke, when my mom was in high school, she went to a party...I'm pretty sure it was a make-out party, but I might be making that up...but anyway, she went to a party and all the boys and girls were in the basement [making out] when the mother of the boy who was hosting the party yelled down the stairs "HOW'S THE WING-DING DOWN THERE?!" I have never forgotten that story. I think it's the way mom tells it that makes me laugh the most.) But I digress.
I have been trying to pump the girls for information, but they all seem to have made a secret pact that if any one of them spills the beans to me about the plans, then they have to kill that person. Or vote her off the island. Whatev. All I am allowed to know - from the "oh-so-detailed" (and i use that word VERY lightly) version of the itinerary that Lor sent me yesterday is:

Or vote her off the island. Whatev. All I am allowed to know - from the "oh-so-detailed" (and i use that word VERY lightly) version of the itinerary that Lor sent me yesterday is:
- Friday: be somewhere in DC by 7pm -- yes I know the address, no I won't post it here for creepy stalkers.
- Saturday: be awake and ready by 9am -- off to a winery (woo hoo!), then that night I have to wear the ah-dorable new blue dress i bought for this occassion, hopefully accompanied by as many embarassing pieces of bachelorette paraphenalia that Stef was able to get her hands on.
- Sunday: be awake and out the door by 11:30am, which I hope means we'll be heading to brunch somewhere that serves bloody mary's because I have a feeling by Sunday, I'll be needing one (read: 4).
In all honesty, does this look like a mischevious bunch to you?
To quote the [not so] great Britney Spears..."we're not that innocent".

Needless to say, I'm over the top excited and can't wait for tomorrow to get here!! Not that I won't miss my incredibly amazing hunk of a fiance, ;) but I'm sure he'll be comfortable in the man cave with Whinnie, a diet dr. pepper, a fridge full of pigs in blankets (i'm serious!), and our [FINALLY!] arctic cold AC!
I'll be sure to fill you all in on the details sometime next week...when I recover. I CAN'T WAIT!!
**note, I updated this blog title because when I got home yesterday I looked at the invite on my fridge and realized I had mis-quoted.

website update!
We have re-vamped our wedding website! Thought it was probably a wise idea to update, polish, and all around spruce-up our website, considering it was listed in our invitations under "for more information, visit our website..." so, without further ado:

More like a full out dinner than a tasting!
On Saturday we had our tasting. Sadly Todd had to work, so my parents accompanied me to the Regency to sit down to eat some yummy wedding food.
They started us with the salad, and two dressings -- both of which will be choices on each table. Salad was great -- pretty standard in terms of salad, but enjoyable none-the-less. Rolls were fantastic as well -- I could have eaten 10. I opted for just one. Wedding dress to wear, HELLO!
Then they brought out the entrees. I guess I was expecting that they'd bring out a little sampling of each item...you know, a tiny bite of beef, a little piece of chicken, a dollop of mashed potatoes, a couple of green beans. Nope. Four HUGE plates came out. Two chicken, two beef, ALL served on a bed of mashed potatoes with a generous side of green beans. The presentation was beautiful, and the food was even better!! I guess it should have been expected, considering The Regency has it's own executive chef on site and everything is made fresh.
I won't give away too many details so there is some surprise, but I recommend if you're coming with a date, that one of you get the beef, and one of you get the chicken. That way you can sample the best of both worlds :)
Also, we changed the appetizers around a bit which really excites me, and judging from our entrees, I know all the appetizers for the cocktail hour will be awesome. A little hint - quoting from one of Todd's (and my) all time favorite movies:
"Oh, and if you see any crab cakes, get your hands on some because I love the crab cakes."
"Consider it done."
AND, side note to the bridal party, we WILL be having a bridal party only open bar prior to ceremony. Just please, no getting wasted prior to walking down the looooong aisle in the amphitheatre... I'd be sad if anyone tripped, fell, or you know...threw up.
This morning Jenny sent me an email with the subject title "OMG, you're getting married NEXT month!" Very true...and so crazy. I can't believe how fast time is flying! Time to buckle down and get more organized...never realized just how many small details go into having a wedding. I mean, who's going to make sure my Wedding Dress gets securely back to my parents house when we depart for our honeymoon?!?!
OH, and PS. We're going to Punta Cana. That's right -- all inclusive, clear water, white sandy beaches at the Paradisus Palma Real. I. Can. Not. Wait. Thank goodness it'll be here before we know it!
PPS. I had another weird wedding dream last night. For some reason everything happened "out of order" in terms of schedule wise for the wedding. At one point in the middle of the reception, Todd and I left so I could go to the doctor, and when we got back it was 11:30pm and we still had to cram in our first dance, cake cutting, AND dancing, all before midnight. The guests were not impressed. BUT I'm happy to report that I felt like I looked amazing...so it wasn't a total loss :) Regardless, I was happy to wake up and have that dream be over quickly...will they ever stop?!
